Vacation is only a few days away, and I’m flagging on the homestretch. I’m not sure how this little horsie is going to jump the last few administrivia hurdles without some vigorous lashing of the hindquarters.
I considered several vacation options: the South Carolina Family Encounter, the New York City Friends Experience, and the Solitary Escape to a Random Town. I chose none of these. I’m too tired and broke, and if that sounds sad, don’t worry. It’s not. I’m looking forward to two weeks of lurking and daydreaming, reading and nap-taking and bike riding. With plenty of time to do my laundry and write silly crap just for my own amusement. Maybe draw some pictures to accompany it. Working full-time for the past year has left me repressed in the creative regions. I’m banking on this vacation to liberate the forces that make life worth living.
With all the nap-taking I’ll be doing, I might even be able to stay up past 10 pm once or twice. Now that would be an adventure.
Of course I’d be crazy not to take a few days to enjoy our nearby cultural hotspot, Jell-O San Francisco:
Click on the picture to see other photos from this incredible work of art by Elizabeth Hickock. What a great idea, and what admirable technique! Found through this article at that perennial source of inspiration, the Kircher Society blog.
I’m off to lash those hindquarters with more coffee. Wish me luck. I barely even know where I am anymore.

just wanted to say that i’m really enjoying your writing.
also, sometimes i’m glad that i don’t really have a sense of smell (re: your last post).
good luck with squeezing good stuff out of your creative regions!
