Yes, I’m still alive. With both my arms. And an internet connection, even. Where have I been??
Things have been hectic! I’ve started a photography business with my friend Patrick, and must therefore photograph everything in the world in order to improve my skills. We already have thousands of images to process and pass along to their proper recipients, but despite the swelling size our database, I’ve got to keep taking pictures. For practice, and because I am addicted.

I have a special appreciation now for those moments when I’m outdoors, taking pictures just for myself. All the practice I’ve been getting makes solo photo adventures much more fun and productive than they used to be.

Alas, I’m broke. We’re in the early stages of this venture, and the money is not yet rolling in. I’m discovering how long it actually takes to set up a studio, plan and choreograph a shoot, select the best photos, and process them until they gleam. It takes a long time, is how long it takes. So long that I haven’t had time to find temp work. This business is my baby, and I can’t seem to leave it for even a few hours.
I’m exhausted tonight, but still too keyed up from a successful shoot to go to sleep. I’ve got a weird combination of feelings going on. Excitement, because the shoot went so well. Uneasiness, because I’ve got to get my financials in order; something needs to tide me over until wedding season. But no matter how far away the security of regular income may be, or how much that lack of security bothers me, I’m still thrilled to be doing this photography thing at all. Taking pictures just never seems to get boring. Why is that?
Oh, and in case you were wondering, Jasper is still cute (plus so much more).

So you’re alive? Phhht. Lots of people are alive. On the other hand, not many people are putting their energies into something cool.
